Editor's recommendation: Characterization of serum-enriched tsRNAs

    A recent paper published on JMCB by Enkui Duan's group from Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences expands the family of circulating small RNAs, by identifying and characterizing an ancient class of tRNA-derived small RNAs (tsRNAS), which abundantly and conservatively exist across a wide range of vertebrate species. Moreover, some serum tsRNAs are highly responsive to LPS-induced body infection or human virus infection, implying their involvements in mediating infection-induced defensive response as well as the diagnostic potential.
